Enel Green power has commissioned two PV plants in southern Italy

Italy's Enel Green Power has announced on Monday it has connected to the grid two photovoltaic (PV) plants in Serre Persane, in the southern Italian region of Campania. The two new photovoltaic plants in Borgo San Lazzaro and Spineto have a total installed capacity of around 21 MW, and it is expected that they will produce something like 30 million kWh per year, supplying 15,000 households and avoiding the emissions of about 14,000 tons of CO2 per year.

UK unveils GBP 10 billion of financial guarantees for Hinkley Point nuclear reactor

The UK government has announced its initiative to encourage investment in nuclear power by offering 10 billion pounds (GBP) (15.2 billion US dollars, 11.6 billion euros) of financial guarantees to French generator EDF for the construction of a new nuclear plant at Hinkley Point.

UK menaced by blackouts of power within 2 years

According to the energy watchdog Ofgem the risk of power blackouts in UK has doubled in the last year, as the country is facing an energy crunch which will cause an increase of the energy bills. The supply crisis is the result of Britain forcing old coal and oil plants to shut down supporting projects of new green wind farms and nuclear plants.
