Norway’s oil and gas output targets for 2012 in doubt

According to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NDP), Europe’s biggest oil producer is expected to miss its oil and gas output target due to interruptions and technical problems. Norwegian oil and gas production fell deeply in September, as various fields were put on care and maintenance, and will likely produce less oil than the expected 1.6 million barrels per day in 2012.

Companies call for carbon emission targets

About 50 companies- investors, trade unions, environmental groups and industry bodies - have written an open letter to Chancellor George Osborne asking a target for how emissions should be slashed by 2030, arguing that a failure to show dedication to reducing carbon emissions may damage the economy and their commercial prospects.

Ireland will miss to meet the 2020 EU targets

According to the EU- funded “Sustainable Energy for the Rural Village Environment” (SERVE) project, Ireland is to miss its EU energy efficiency target by 2020. The project stated that about 90,000 buildings will need important improvements every year by 2020, even if this year less than 50,000 buildings undergo energy upgrades.If Ireland doesn’t reach its objective by 2020, it will have to pay severe penalties.

Daily: Brent climbs above $112 on fresh monetary measures in Japan

Brent crude climbed above $112 a barrel on Wednesday after the Bank of Japan expanded its assets buying and loan programme, currently its primary monetary easing tool, the actions being similar to those strategies announced earlier by the U.S. Federal Reserve, aimed at stimulating their economy.
