French electricity demand boosted in May 2017 by public transport sector

On Monday, French grid network operator RTE announced in a monthly report about a 0.9% increase in electricity consumption in May, compared with the same period a year ago. The main factors were growing power consumption in the public transport sector and high cooling demand because of warmer weather.

UK: Ofgem will reduce subsidies for small power generators

Britain’s energy regulator Ofgem declared on Tuesday it will cut subsidies to several small electricity producers that offer back-up during peak demand. According to Ofgem, this move would reduce household electricity bills by around 20 pounds a year, since the cost of the subsidies is included in overall network fees charged to power companies, which these pass on to consumers.

Norway-Poland gas pipeline plan requires demand for 75% of capacity
