German wholesale electricity for 2017 rise by 7.5% attaining 26.5 eur/MWh

German baseload wholesale electricity price for delivery in 2017 touched 26.5 euros ($29.97) a megawatt hour in Tuesday trading, or an increase of 7.5 percent on the day and the most elevated level thus far in 2016.

Daily: European forward electricity prices hit the highest level in 12 weeks amid firmer fuels

Crude oil prices shed on Thursday as producers insinuated more output, while U.S. stockpiles registered their first loss in four sessions. The euro was down against the dollar after traders saw potential for the European Central Bank to eventually boost its stimulus measures if necessary. WTI crude oil prices eased 2.3 percent to settle at 43.18 a barrel. Brent crude declined 2.8 percent to close at $44.53 a barrel.

Daily: European electricity forward prices surpass 10-week highs on coal price recovery

Crude oil prices tumbled on Friday on anticipations that a weekend meeting of top oil exporters will have little impact on reducing an exacerbated glut, even if would provide a ceiling for the market. Brent crude futures eased 74 cents to close at $43.10, while U.S. crude settled down $1.14 cents at $40.36. Both contracts declined by more than 3.5 percent earlier in the day.
