Daily (12.01.2022): Oil prices surged to their highest levels since early November amid tight supply, mild impact from Omicron

Oil prices surged on Tuesday, with Brent hovering at about $84 a barrel, a level last seen back in November, mainly due to several supply disruptions and as Omicron impact is seen as short-lived. Hence, Brent crude climbed by $2.85, or 3.5%, to $83.72 a barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) soared by $2.99, or 3.8%, to end at $81.22 a barrel.

Daily (11.01.2022): EUAs dropped by 6% on Monday as auction supply resumed

Crude oil prices lost ground on Monday as supply issues in Kazakhstan and Libya attenuated, with traders watching the impact of coronavirus outbreaks in China. Hence, Brent crude fell by 88 cents, or 1.1%, to settle at $80.87 a barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude decreased by 67 cents, or 0.9%, to end at $78.23.

Daily (10.01.2022): The European energy complex weakened on Friday, amid outlooks for milder weather

Crude oil prices decreased slightly on Friday, as the situation in Kazakhstan somewhat subsided, after several days of clashes between demonstrators and the police, with the involvement of Russian troops. As such, Brent oil edged 0.3% lower at $81.75 a barrel and WTI crude slipped by 0.7% to $78.90 a barrel.

Daily (07.01.2022): Oil prices hit their highest level since late November on Thursday

Oil prices continued their increase on Thursday, due to escalating unrest in Kazakhstan and supply outages in Libya. Furthermore, rising interest rates and concerns about demand in the US also lent support to prices. Thus, Brent crude futures surged by 1.5% to $81.99 a barrel and West Texas Intermediate (WTI) gained 2.1% at $79.46 a barrel. Both contracts hit their highest since late November.
