Norway's Statoil is to build an oil terminal in the Arctic, which according to the Norwegian group could spark “a new industrial era” in the region. Norway's Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Ola Borten Moe said that Statoil ASA's plan to bring oil by pipeline from the Barents Sea to a new terminal in the country's far north could lead the way to a permanent oil hub in the Arctic.

Italian oil and gas company Eni had a record year for exploration in 2012 with discovered resources of about 3.64 billion barrels of oil equivalent. Meanwhile, proved reserves were at an eight-year record by the end of 2012 at 7.7 Billion barrels of oil equivalent.

Switzerland-based power and automation technology group ABB has signed a contract with the Italian Energy Company Eni, to extend the export terminal of Eni's refinery in Taranto, located in the 'Mar Grande' bay on the Ionian Sea in southern Italy. The contract between ABB and the multinational Italian oil and gas company, is part of Eni’s strategy to improve its refinery infrastructure and ensure a connection with the onshore Tempa Rossa oil plant.

Italian energy company Eni has announced on Wednesday that it had made a new oil discovery, at the NFW well “Rosa North 1X‘, located in the Meleiha Concession, in the Western Desert of Egypt, as Eni plans to consolidate exploration activities in the country.
