Gazprom requires 7 billion dollars for imports of gas to Ukraine

National Naftogaz of Ukraine received from Gazprom a 7 billion dollars bill. In January 2009, the two companies have signed an agreement according to which Ukraine had to buy from Moscow at least 41 billion cubic meter of gas a year, and if consumes less, it is obliged to pay a penalty. In fact the country imported last year less gas than stipulated in the contract, about 33 billion cubic meters.

Ukrainian Naftogaz will receive 3.7 billion dollars loan from China

Ukraine’s national energy company Naftogaz will receive a $3.7 billion loan from China to finance a program to substitute natural gas with locally produced coal for a 19 year period.

Prince Charles opens a new biogas plant in Dorset

Last week Prince Charles has opened a new biogas plant near Poundbury, in Dorset. The plant, will inject gas into the National Grid to be sold on the market. It is owned and run by J V Energen, a joint venture between the Duchy of Cornwall and local farmers, which along with some nearby businesses will supply approximately 41,000 tons of maize, grass silage, manure, and food waste to be processed each year.

RWE and Naftogaz: Ukraine starts to import gas from Western Europe

The newspaper Zerkalo Nedeli Ukraina reported on Monday that Ukraine has got the first 3.3 million cubic meters of natural gas from Germany’s RWE on Monday.
