Daily (12.07.2024): Forward gas prices increased on Thursday, benefiting from a technical rebound and rising demand
Oil prices ended slightly higher on Thursday, driven by positive US inflation news, suggesting potential future rate cuts by the Fed that could stimulate economic activity. As a result, Brent crude rose modestly by 0.4% to $85.40 per barrel. At the same time, WTI crude increased by 0.6%, closing at $82.62 per barrel.

Daily (11.07.2024): British gas and carbon prices weighed on the German year-ahead power contract on Wednesday
Oil prices increased for the first time in four sessions on Wednesday, driven by a further reduction in US crude inventories and a technical rebound. As a result, Brent crude edged 0.5% up, settling slightly above $85 per barrel, while WTI Crude rose by 1%, closing at $82.10 per barrel.

Germany to seek bids for hydrogen-ready power plants by early 2025
Germany said on Friday it will launch the first tender for the construction and modernisation of 12.5 gigawatts (GW) of gas power plants that can switch to hydrogen by the end of 2024 or early next year, following industry pressure. The tenders are part of efforts to supplement wind and solar energy and speed up the transition to low carbon generation as Germany shifts to renewables, having switched off nuclear power.
