Lindsey refinery acquisition

Oil Refinery Petroplus, based in Switzerland, has submitted a proposal to buy Total’s refinery Lindsey in the UK. In order to reduce its total production capacity of oil, Total, the largest oil company in France, intends sell its 223 000 barrels per day Lindsey refinery. This event was rather unexpected news.

Investment for the Nord Stream Natural Gas pipeline - the first phase.

Consortium Nord Stream, together with the shareholders - Gazprom, BASF / Wintershall GmbH, E. ON Ruhrgas AG, and NV Nederlandse Gasunie - have announced the successful achievement of fund raising for the first phase of a gas pipeline through the Baltic Sea. In the first phase, the total amount of funds increased to 3.9 billion euros, making possible the installing of the first pipeline as scheduled, in April 2010.

Photovoltaic installations to reach 6.4 GW in 2009

According to preliminary 2009 data regarding Photovoltaic industry, released by the European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA), a total of 6.4 GW of recently installed capacity was added in 2009, the global capacity attaining beyond 20 GW. Even though 2009 has touched the largest capacity growth ever, installations are likely to boost no less than 40% in 2010.
