Daily: Crude oil prices in slight decline as late short-covering offsets dollar impact

Crude oil prices closed little changed on Friday as short-covering returned in late trading, slightly declining as the U.S. dollar increased on upbeat U.S. jobs figures. The U.S. WTI contract for September delivery fell modestly 13 cents, or 0.3 percent, to close at $41.80 per barrel, after declining nearly 2 percent earlier. Brent crude's front-month lost just 2 cents to end at $44.27 per barrel. Previously in the session, it tumbled to $43.51.

Statoil acquires Petrobras assets in Carcará oil finding for $2.5 billion

Norwegian oil major Statoil ASA declared on Friday it had decided to acquire Petrobras' 66% operated interest in the BM-S-8 offshore license in Brazil's Santos basin for $2.5 billion.

Daily: French spot power prices increase on higher consumption due to hot weather

Crude oil prices declined over 2 percent on Monday, with WTI crude reaching a three-month low, on intensifying concerns that a global oversupply of oil and refined products would put pressure on markets, postponing a long-awaited rebalance in the market. U.S. crude lost $1.06 to settle at $43.13 a barrel, after hitting a three-month low of $42.97 during the session. Brent crude futures closed the session down 97 cents at $44.72 a barrel, after hitting their weakest level since May 10 at $44.55.
