UK accepts investments from gas and oil firms

The UK government has announced a series of investments by oil and gas companies that will develop a new research centre and will create thousands of jobs all over the UK. Six separate announcements include plans for new oil and gas fields in the North Sea in a £1.4 billion project which is supposed to supply around 5% of the UK's gas production from 2015. Each announcement represents a different project that is to be built.

Italy: Snam obtains a € 400 million loan for the construction of the 2 new gas pipelines

The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Cassa depositi e prestiti (CDP) have approved today a loan agreement totaling up to 400 million euros for a 20-year term for Snam Spa, with a first tranche of 300 million, already approved by EIB, while a second tranche will be available by 2012.

EDF: UK economy could rise on nuclear revival

According to a research commissioned by EDF Energy and performed by the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), the UK investment in new nuclear could lead to an economic growth of more than £ 5 billion a year, in addition to the creation of over 32000 new jobs.

Energy giants call for the removal of 1.4 bln EU carbon permits

A group of the most influent energy companies have written to top EU officials prompting them to withdraw at least 1.4 billion emission permits from the bloc’s carbon-trading system (ETS) in order to strengthen the low prices of carbon allowances and the green investment.
