EU bank to provide 500 million loan to France

The European Investment Bank has decided to grant a loan of about 500 million euro aiming to help finance upgrades to seven of France's high-voltage and very-high-voltage power grid projects through 2016, the funds will help guarantee the quality and security of France's electricity supply, and would allow the country to add new-generation and renewable sources to its grid counting also a major investment in renewable energy sources.

Total sells 25% stake in Tempa Rossa oil field

France-based multinational oil and gas company Total, has decided to sell a 25 % stake in the Tempa Rossa oil field, which is situated in the Basilicata region of southern Italy, to Mitsui E&P Italia. Total, which has discovered the Tempa Rossa oil field in 1989, and has operated the concession since 2002, will remain operator of Tempa Rossa with a 50% stake.

France has 4 GW of installed PV capacity

According to the Ministry of Energy, Ecology and Sustainable Development of the country, France registered a 39 % decrease of installations if compared to 2011, the country has added only 1.08 GW of new photovoltaic capacity with over 34,500 plants in 2012.
