Germany confirms 7.5 GW of new solar installed in 2011
The earlier released reports by the German Federal Network Agency indicated that 3 GW of new solar power were installed in Germany in December alone, defining a monthly record in the Federal country. German Federal Network Agency confirmed earlier appraisal that in 2011, a 7.5GW capacity of solar was installed in Germany. This surpassed even the US total new installed capacity of 1,855 MW in 2011.

According to the Earth Policy Institute (EPI), China installed a record 18,000 megawatts of new wind capacity in 2011, raising its total capacity to nearly 63,000 megawatts and spreading its lead in the global wind power sector.

Spain to double biomass production in 2012
According to a Spanish biomass association, the country could double its total biomass production this year compared with 2011, despite not achieving full capacity previous year. The country produced about 150,000 t of biomass previous year instead of total capacity of 651,000 t/year.

RWE to divest 7 billion euros in assets as its profit slumps
