Within the UK, the total contribution of renewable electricity has grown by an amazing 52% in the last 5 years, driven significantly by a huge expansion in wind energy. UK: renewable production up 19% last year

According to figures published by the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change, electricity produced from renewable energy sources increased 19% last year in comparison to 2011 levels, representing about 11% of all electricity generated in UK, in comparison to a year before when it accounted 9.4%. Meanwhile, consumption of fossil fuels decreased if compared to 2011 levels.

UK launched 25 billion fund for the construction of new biofuel plants

The Department for transport will present a fund of 25 million pounds which will be offered following a demonstration of the use of municipal waste and forestry residues or other advanced biofuel sources to produce fuels, helping UK to shift from fossil fuels as petrol and diesel.
