The European investment Bank to provide a 155 million euro loan to Bord Gàis

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has granted a 155 million euro loan to Irish energy company, Bord Gàis, to support the construction of six onshore wind farms, in Counties Tipperary, Clare and Kilkenny, with a total combined capacity of 141 MW.

Total announces new oil discovery in North Sea

The French operator Total announces that it has made an oil discovery in the Garantiana prospect located in the Norwegian North Sea, which is expected to contain 25 million to 75 million barrels of recoverable oil and is situated 185 kilometers northwest of Bergen and 30 kilometers northeast of the Visund Field, at water depths of 384 meters.

IEA: U.S. could be self-sufficient in gas by 2035

U.S. natural gas production is likely to increase by about 29% from 21.6 trillion cubic feet in 2010 to 27.9 trillion cubic feet in 2035, with shale gas accounting some 49% to about 5 trillion cubic meters of the US total natural gas production in 2035, according to the World Energy Outlook launched by the International Energy Agency. The study sustains that the U.S. holds about 1,744 trillion cubic feet of technically recoverable natural gas which is sufficient to supply the country for 90 years at current rates of production.

Vestas unveils a further 3,000 jobs cut
