Brent crude shed toward $110 a barrel on Wednesday, declining for a second straight day as increasing oil inventories in the United States and recent pessimistic data fuelled worries about demand from the world's top consumer. Brent crude increased over $111 a barrel in choppy trading on Monday as Saudi Arabia forecasted strong demand coming from Asia, while U.S. crude prices dropped as a pipeline leak in Arkansas threatened to increase the oversupply of oil in the U.S. Midwest.

Italy's biggest power utility Enel is in talks to obtain a 20% stake in the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), project that aims to pump Azeri gas to Europe. Enel, necessitates more gas to fire part of its power generation fleet and to sell to consumers. Enel is developing a LNG terminal on the island of Sicily and has a stake in the GALSI project, which aims to transport Algerian gas into Italy
