Czech Republic selects Rolls-Royce SMR for small reactors project
The Ministry of Trade said that the applicants were approached "on the basis of their potential suitability for placement in the Czech Republic ... Rolls-Royce SMR emerged as the best company with which ČEZ (the Czech nuclear power company) wants to establish a strategic partnership". The government will now carry out a "safety assessment of the British company" as was done for those who bid for the recent large nuclear units contracts - involving the Ministry of the Interior, Security Information Service, ÚZSI, Military Intelligence and other key institutions to ensure it complies with the state's security requirements.

Cyprus signs MoU with Greece on 'world's longest' subsea electric cable
Greece and Cyprus have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to press ahead with a subsea electric cable linking continental Europe to the East Mediterranean, the energy ministries of the two countries said on Saturday.

Ukraine agrees to transit Azerbaijani gas after Gazprom deal ends, report says
Ukraine has agreed to transit Azerbaijani gas to Europe as a temporary measure after it ends a transit deal with Russia, even though it expects some Russian gas will be included in the volumes, the Ukrainska Pravda news outlet said on Thursday.

EC approves EUR 2.7bn Austrian aid to cut CO2 from industry
The European Commission has approved Austria’s plans to offer up to EUR 2.7bn in state aid to its companies to support them cutting their carbon emissions from industrial processes, it said on Thursday.
