Finland Proposes 30% Windfall Tax On Power Companies
The Finnish government has announced on Thursday that it has proposed a temporary windfall tax on profits from the country's electricity companies as part of a European Union response to soaring power costs. The proposed 30% tax would apply to any profits exceeding a 10% return on capital in 2023, with the government estimating it could bring in between 500 million and 1.3 billion euros ($533 million-$1.9 billion).

Daily (30.12.2022): British gas prices increased on Thursday amid lower Norwegian exports
Crude oil prices continued to decline on Thursday, weighed by concerns that China’s demand will remain sluggish as the world’s biggest crude importer struggles with soaring Covid infections at a time of easing coronavirus restrictions. Hence, Brent crude fell by 1.2%, to settle at $82.26 a barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude settled at $78.40 per barrel, down by 0.7%.

UK to extend its energy price support scheme to non-domestic customers
The UK will extend its Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS) for non-domestic customers in Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the country's department for Business, Energy & Industrial strategy said in a statement on Thursday.

Norway's Equinor resumes production from Njord field following upgrade
