BNZ acquires 127.7 MW of solar projects in Sicily

Solar-focused independent power producer (IPP) BNZ has acquired two solar projects in Sicily with a combined capacity of 127.7 MW from Italian renewable energy developer GreenGo Srl.
The sites are located in the municipalities of Francofonte and Lercara Friddi. The first facility is scheduled to become operational in early 2026, while the other is expected to go live at the end of the same year.
“As part of our commitment to local communities, we are working with local authorities in Francofonte to create an agro-energy community, a pioneering model that combines renewable energy production with support for local agriculture, especially the region’s renowned citrus cultivation,” BNZ noted in a social media post published today.
Southern Europe-focused BNZ seeks to deploy 1.7 GW of renewable energy projects across Europe by 2026.
Earlier this year, the company secured a EUR-166-million (USD 175.3m) loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to advance the deployment of 17 solar farms across Spain, Italy and Portugal with a combined capacity of more than 700 MW.
