Zelestra starts building 162 MW of new solar in Spain

Spanish renewables firm Zelestra announced today the start of construction works on three solar sites in Spain with a combined direct current (DC) capacity of 162 MW.
The Belinchon I, II and III projects are located in Cuenca in the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha and are expected to become operational in the second quarter of 2026. The construction work at the sites is expected to open more than 400 jobs.
The three projects are part of the Energize programme aimed at increasing access to renewable energy for pharmaceutical supply chains. Under this initiative, Zelestra has executed power purchase agreements (PPA) for 305 GWh of renewable energy annually with companies, such as Takeda, Teva and UCB.
Backed by Swedish private equity firm EQT, Zelestra has a portfolio of 27 GW of carbon-free projects across 13 countries. The company employs more than 950 people globally.
