PGE Energia Ciepła in Poland has received financing for 10 MW of photovoltaic farms.

PGE Energia Ciepla, a subsidiary of the Polish power company PGE, announced that it has received co-financing of PLN 48.7 million (USD 12.5 million / EUR 11.6 million) from the national eco-fund to install 10.54 MW of photovoltaic (PV) systems at its combined heat and power (CHP) plants.
The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management will provide the funding as a preferential loan from the Modernization Fund under the priority program Energy-Intensive Industry - RES, as stated in a press release on Wednesday.
The initiative involves setting up seven PV installations across six of the utility's CHP plants. The electricity produced, which is zero-emission, will be fully utilized by PGE Energia Ciepla units and will partially replace conventionally sourced energy, according to deputy CEO Radoslaw Woszczyk.
This project is expected to decrease CO2 emissions by 7,220 tonnes annually, which is comparable to the emissions produced by 800 single-family homes that rely on fossil fuels for heating, Woszczyk clarified.
The project's completion is scheduled for December 2026.
PGE Energia Ciepla claims to be Poland's leading producer of electricity and heat generated through high-efficiency cogeneration. It holds approximately a 25% share of the cogeneration heat market, operates 16 CHP plants with a thermal capacity of 6.22 GWt and electrical capacity of 2.48 GWe, and manages heating networks extending 725 km.
