BAT will provide energy to a factory in Poland using power from the Volta solar farm.

Renewable energy producer Volta Polska announced that it has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with British American Tobacco (BAT) to provide energy to its facility in northeastern Augustow from a newly operational 15-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) farm.
The agreement is expected to deliver approximately 15 GWh of renewable energy annually, which will cover 30% of the power needs for BAT's plant, the second largest globally, Volta noted in a press release issued last week.
The Sadow solar farm located in the southern municipality of Koszęcin was inaugurated in January. This 16-hectare facility features over 26,000 solar panels connected to the Polish utility Tauron's network.
The agreement aligns with BAT's goal to cut its emissions by 50% by 2030, as stated by BAT Polska in a media release on Tuesday. They emphasized that the Sadow project illustrates the company's dedication to Poland's target of achieving a 56% share of renewable energy in its electricity mix by the same year.
Volta Group is a French renewable energy producer with 250 MWp of assets either in operation or under construction and a project pipeline of 500 MWp mainly in Europe and the Indian Ocean. The group is backed by the Eiffel Essential fund, which was launched in 2021 by the Eiffel Investment Group.
