DRI establishes a solar power purchase agreement with OMV Petrom in Romania.

DRI, the EU renewables division of the Ukrainian energy firm DTEK, has entered into the largest physical solar power purchase agreement (PPA) in Romania with OMV Petrom S.A., the biggest integrated energy producer in Southeastern Europe.

This PPA spans an 8.5-year term for approximately 100GWh annually at a fixed price, which includes the sale of actual electricity and Guarantees of Origin.

The agreement is set to commence in January 2026, with OMV Petrom acquiring 62% of the energy generated by DRI's Glodeni 1 and Glodeni 2 solar facilities.

These two projects have a total capacity of 113MWp.

Starting January 2027, OMV Petrom will obtain 50% of the output from DRI’s Vacaresti solar project, which has a capacity of 126MWp and is scheduled to begin construction in 2025.

John Stuart, CEO of DRI, stated: "Securing long-term corporate offtake agreements is crucial for fostering renewable energy expansion, and it shows that clean energy presents a competitive alternative.

"Through this agreement, we contribute to accelerating Romania’s energy transition and supporting OMV Petrom's strategic objectives."

Currently, DRI has a portfolio of 299MW in Romania, which includes the first wind farm established in the country in the last decade.

The company aims to provide 1GW of renewable energy and battery storage projects in Romania by 2030.
