Egypt inks natural gas cooperation contract with Cyprus

Energy Minister George Lakkotrypis and the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek el Mola, signed today a deal regarding the transfer of natural gas via pipeline from Cyprus Exclusive Economic Zone to Egypt through a direct undersea pipeline. This agreement is described as an essential as it is expected to place Cyprus in a competitive regional gas export infrastructure and help the island to cooperate with key players in the region such as Egypt.

Turkish Stream pipeline to be realized

The Turkish Stream pipeline project, which foresees Russian gas supply to Turkey through the Black Sea, will be realized. The Turkish Stream pipeline, which is to run via Turkey to Greece, was designed to replace South Stream, a pipeline from Russia to Bulgaria.

Nova Innovation has marked a new era in tidal energy

The Edinburgh-based company Nova Innovation has announced it has installed the first offshore tidal turbines in the world which are already delivering electricity to the grid. The company has installed the fully operational array of tidal power turbines in the Bluemull Sound in the north of Shetland, where the North Sea encounters the Atlantic. This project marks a big step forward in using tidal energy as a reliable source of renewable power. Once finished it will supply enough electricity for about 300 households.

Daily: British gas prices down on strong domestic supply

Oil prices declined on Tuesday, with Brent decreasing about 2 percent following the dollar's recovery and worries over an oversupplied market situation amid forecast for higher U.S crude stockpiles. According to the latest statements, Iran is close to reach peak production. Brent crude futures decreased to $48.37 per barrel, down by 89 cents, or 1.8 percent, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures settled at $46.35, down by 63 cents, or 1.3 percent.
