EDF confident that UK nuclear projects are on target

EDF, France’s electricity giant, announced on Wednesday that it is slowing down the building of a new generation nuclear reactor in France by two years and at a nearly double cost than the estimated one, following a couple of deadly accidents and safety reviews requested after the Fukushima disaster.

France may extend the operation of its oldest nuclear plant

According to an article in the French daily, Le Figaro, the oldest and the most controversial nuclear reactor in France, called Fessenheim, in operation since 1977, is in the next few days expected to receive permission to extend its life span for another 10 years by the Nuclear Safety Authority of France (ASN).
