U.S. crude stocks increased by 163,000 barrels previous week, less than Reuters analysts’ expectations for a 1.2 million barrel rise. U.S. crude futures traded 98.84 dollars a barrel on Wednesday, up 3.42 dollars. Prices for crude futures in the earlier trade hit 100 dollars a barrel the first time since October 2008 following the concerns of cuts supply in Libya and the turmoil in the Middle East.

Oil prices went up as much as 6 percent on Monday with Brent crude traded in London at almost 109 dollars a barrel at one point for the first time since 2008. Brent crude for April delivery added 4 cents being traded at 105.78 dollars a barrel, while U.S. crude for March delivery, which expired on Tuesday, rose to 93.57 dollars a barrel. Oil prices stayed strong on Tuesday, but very close to 106 dollars.

China's electricity consumption continued to raise, up 14.56% in 2010

In 2010 China's electricity consumption sharply rose, up 14.56 percent to well over 4.19 trillion kWh, the China Electricity Council said.
