Swiss government votes to phase out nuclear power by 2034

Nuclear power supplies 40% of Switzerland’s electricity, but under the pressure from the largest anti-nuclear protest of the last 25 years, at which participated about 20,000 people, the Swiss government has proposed a complete decommissioning of nuclear power by 2034.

Crude oil futures increased on Tuesday after Goldman Sachs raised its forecasts on Brent crude and as a weaker dollar attracted traders to commodities, while released economic data indicated an increase in sales of U.S. single-family homes. U.S. crude for July delivery traded at 99.59 dollars a barrel, lifting 1.89 dollars after a trading range from 96.61 and 100.09 dollars, while ICE Brent crude for delivery in July settled at 112.53 dollars a barrel, up 2.43 dollars, after a trading range between 109.50 and 112.65 dollars.

Crude oil futures decreased on Monday as worries about the debt crises in the euro zone raised the dollar to a two-month high level against the euro, spreading risk aversion across markets. U.S. crude for July delivery traded at 97.70 dollars a barrel, down 2.40 dollars, while ICE Brent for July delivery settled at 110.10 dollars a barrel, down 2.29 dollars, after a trading range between 108.58 and 112.23 dollars.
