UK can proceed with the construction of the new nuclear power station

The European Commission has approved the construction and operation of the new nuclear power plant at Hinkley Point in Sommerset, South England, has announced EDF Energy. Last month the commission presented its judgment to the UK Government, coming to the conclusion that the proposed project of the nuclear power plant at Hinkley Point accomplishes the purposes of the Euratom Treaty by contributing to develop a sustainable national energy mix.

Bulgaria to build a new nuclear unit by 2022

Bulgarian government has decided to build a new unit at the nuclear power plant in the Danube town of Kozloduy, by installing a 1000 MW reactor, produced by Russian contractor Atomstroyexport, at the nuclear plant in Kozloduy.

Italy’s electricity demand increased by 1.1% in July

Terna Rete Elettrica Nazionale SpA, Italy’s power grid operator said on Monday that electricity demand in Italy increased by 1.1 % compared to July last year to 30.6 billion kWh on higher temperatures and an extra working day.
