RWE npower opens the Pembroke Power Station

After three years of construction, the control of the final part of the plant was delivered to the station team last week. RWE npower presented the facility as one of Europe's largest and most efficient combined cycle gas turbine plant which will provide a highly flexible and reliable source of energy, besides it will power 3,5 million homes.

Didcot and Fawley power stations to be closed in 2013

RWE npower has announced that the two power stations in Oxfordshire and Hampshire which are 42 years old will be closed soon, as the EU rules required reducing greenhouse gasses emissions. The closures will occur at the end of March 2013, when the power stations will have exhausted their permitted hours of operation before they have to shut down, the energy company said.

GDF Suez wants to increase gas prices by 7% from October 1

According to the newspaper “Le Figaro”, GDF Suez has sent a request to the Regulatory Commission de l’Energie (CRE), to be allowed to increase its tariffs by 0.9 % to cover supply costs, with a further 6 % increase to offset a 2% cap imposed by the government in July.
