China’s dream about U.S. shale gas success still evanescent
China is hoping that shale gas could change country’s energetic fate in the same way as the U.S., though the nation is facing many challenges, including lack of experience and too little shale gas commercial production, according to industry experts. This came despite the government’s estimations putting shale gas reserves at 25 trillion cubic meters.

Oil production of five main international oil companies decreased 25% since 2004
Crude oil production of Exxon, BP, Shell, Chevron and Total has fallen by 25.8% over the past twelve years, after beating an historic high in 2004 when total combined crude production reached 10.76 million barrels a day. The production has fallen despite huge growth in their investments, allowed by the significant increase in crude oil prices practiced since late 2000.

IEA: Coal demand will continue to grow in the next years to come
According to a new report recently released by the International Energy Agency (IEA) coal could become the world's top energy source by 2017 along with oil. The IEA expects an increase in coal demand all over the world except the US, where natural gas is replacing the black mineral as feedstock for the production of electricity.
