Alstom to modernize the Russian electricity transmission and distribution grid

France’s Alstom, a world leader in transport infrastructure, power generation and electrical grid, has entered a 51/49 joint venture with Russia’s Soyuz Holding to manufacture and commercialize high voltage switchgear in order to modernize the Russian electrical grid. This agreement follows the memorandum of understanding signed in 2011.

Britain: SSE penalized for slow energy customer links

Britain's energy regulator Ofgem has inflicted a fine of 750,000 pounds ($1.25 million) on the power distribution division of utility SSE for the stagnant grid connection of approximately 200 clients in the period 2010-2013, as stated by the entity on Friday.

Ofgem: five of the six electricity distributors have to do more to cut costs for consumers

Energy regulator Ofgem has required to five of its six electricity distributors, including SSE and Scottish Power, to do more to cut costs for consumers. The six distribution companies presented their investment plans, but the only plan approved was those of Western Power Distribution’s( WPD), which customers will see a 11.30 pounds cut in their bills from April 2015.
